Otto — ADHD Focus Coach (“the App”) is published by Bulpara Inc (“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the App and related services.
Data We Collect
To provide its core functionality, Otto collects:
- Account information: When you sign in (Apple, Google, or email), we receive your name and email address from the identity provider or collect the email you enter.
- Your sessions: The intentions you write, durations you choose, coach mode, ambient sound, completion status, and the journal line you optionally add at the end of a session.
- Coach messages: Check-in messages from Otto, your replies (chips or typed), and optional voice transcripts.
- Profile preferences: Name, notification settings, scheduled sessions, and mascot choice.
- Subscription status: Active subscription tier and entitlement, managed through Apple's App Store via RevenueCat.
- Diagnostic data: Anonymous crash reports and basic usage events to keep the app working reliably.
How We Use Your Data
- To run focus sessions, time them, and save the recap to your log.
- To generate gentle check-in messages and respond to your replies.
- To enable voice companion mode and transcribe what you say to Otto.
- To send the notifications you've scheduled (e.g. 5 minutes before a planned session).
- To manage your subscription and feature access.
- To respond to support requests.
AI Processing & Voice
- Otto's check-in messages and voice replies are generated by third-party AI providers when you use a coach mode that requires it (gentle check-ins or voice companion). Silent presence mode does not send any data to AI providers.
- When AI processing is needed, your session intention, recent coach exchanges, and selected coach mode may be sent to Anthropic and/or OpenAI to generate Otto's reply. These providers process the data only to provide AI inference services for Otto.
- Voice transcription uses Apple's on-device Speech framework when possible. When a server-side transcription model is used (for accuracy on longer voice exchanges), audio is sent over TLS to the provider and discarded after transcription.
- Otto's text-to-speech voice is generated by Apple's on-device TTS by default. Custom voice models, when enabled, are processed by a third-party provider over TLS.
- We do not use your sessions, intentions, journal entries, or coach messages to train AI models unless you explicitly opt in via “Help improve Otto” in profile settings.
- You can delete your data at any time from within the app.
Third-Party Services
Otto uses the following third-party services:
- Apple App Store / StoreKit: Manages purchases and subscriptions. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- RevenueCat: Subscription management and entitlement verification. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
- Sign in with Apple / Google Sign-In: Used to authenticate your account if you choose those sign-in methods.
- Anthropic: AI inference provider used to generate Otto's check-in messages and voice replies.
- OpenAI: AI inference provider used as a fallback or for specific features where configured.
Data Storage & Security
- Your account, sessions, coach messages, and journal entries are stored on our secured backend and synced via your account so you can pick up across devices.
- Local-only mode is available in profile settings: when on, sessions stay on your device and are not synced.
- All data is transmitted over TLS. Data sent to AI providers is also transmitted over TLS.
- We follow standard practices to protect data, but no internet-connected service is 100% secure.
Notifications
Otto sends notifications only for things you've opted into: scheduled session reminders (5 min before), and an optional once-a-day soft nudge if you've skipped two or more days in a row. Otto will never send punitive, frequent, or marketing-style notifications. You can turn all notifications off from your iOS Settings or from inside the app.
Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with the service providers listed above, strictly to operate the App. This includes sharing your session intention and coach context with Anthropic and OpenAI when you use a coach mode that requires AI generation. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, safety, or property.
Your Rights
You can:
- Export your data via Profile → Export my data.
- Delete your account and all associated data via Profile → Delete account.
- Cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings.
- Turn off cloud sync via Profile → Local-only mode.

Children's Privacy
Otto is intended for adults. The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Not Medical Care
Otto is a focus companion, not a medical device, therapy, or clinical treatment. Otto does not diagnose, treat, or manage ADHD or any other condition. If you need clinical support, please consult a licensed professional.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
